New home programs
Navigating the maze of certifying a home “green”
Home energy labeling made simple.
EnerGuide labeling for new homes is a program established by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to help homeowners make informed decisions about the energy efficiency of their home. Under the program, we send out a qualified energy advisor to perform an energy evaluation of the home and assign an EnerGuide rating based on the energy efficiency of the building envelope. New homes must be designed and built to 5% greater than or equal to the ERS v15 reference house to be used as a compliance path to the building energy code.
In addition to providing information about the energy performance of a new home, EnerGuide labeling can also be used to qualify for incentives such as rebates and tax credits. Eligibility for CMHC Green Home insurance premium refund is 15-25% when the house is evaluated at least 15%-40% lower than a “Typical New Home.”
We connect you with a qualified Energy Advisor to deliver the home energy certification and labeling.
Mortgage insurance refunds
Did you know that homeowners can receive 25% of their insurance premium back with an energy efficient home? For new homeowners it is a simple process, apply for the rebate by filling out a simple form to their insurer and send them the energy label and reports provided by their qualified energy advisor. Properties with a gigajoules/ year rating of at least 20% lower than “A Typical New House” or with GHG Emissions rating that fall within the top %15 of the housing stock in lowest GHG emissions are eligible for a refund.
