Getting Rebates - For Builders

Incentives are available for builders who build energy efficient, environmentally responsible homes.

Usually, these incentives will require that your homes are EnerGuide labelled and have a significantly-above-average EnerGuide Rating. They may also require your homes get additional certification such as R-2000 or Built Green.

What Rebates are Available?

EnerVision maintains a database on rebates for green building that are available for builders in Alberta.

Getting to R-2000 and Built Green: The GreenerVision Process

For builders wanting to build greener, we have developed a streamlined 3-step process, which we call GreenerVision:

  1. Benchmark. Work with our CEAs to evaluate your current building plans and practices for energy efficiency and find out where you can improve.
  2. Optimize. Make incremential changes to your plans and practices, and improve the EnerGuide rating of your homes.
  3. Certify. Once you're building energy efficient homes, continue to improve by adding more environmentallly responsible components to your plans and practices, and start labelling your homes as Built Green or R-2000.

We've put together an easy-to-understand overview of what's involved in each step.

The Future for Rebates

The requirements for rebates may change from time to time, or new rebates may become available as old ones end. Regardless, all rebates are likely to be based on EnerGuide, since it is developed and endorsed by Natural Resources Canada.

Making sure your homes get a high EnerGuide rating and an R-2000 and/or Built Green label is usually the only way to qualify for rebates.
