Add other environmentally responsible building components to your plans and practices to meet the R-2000 and Built Green checklist requirements, and get your homes certified.
Once you have improved the energy efficiency of your homes, you can also look at the qualitative changes required by both R-2000 and Built Green, so that your improved homes can also receive labels from these programs.
Both of these programs take energy efficiency targets quantified with EnerGuide and add a checklist of qualitative requirements (e.g., water systems, environmentally healthy construction materials, waste diversion practices, etc.)
Implement enough checklist points and obtain a high enough EnerGuide rating to get your homes certified R-2000 and/or Built Green.
Incentives are available for certified homes. Different rebates may have differing requirements but all are likely to be based on EnerGuide, since it is developed and endorsed by Natural Resources Canada.
Making sure your homes get a high EnerGuide rating and an R-2000 and/or Built Green label is usually the only way to qualify for rebates. For more information on available rebates, please see our available rebates section.
